BMW’s Augusto Farfus topped the times in the first day of the official Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters testing at the Hockenheimring, ahead of stablemate Maxime Martin.
Brazilian Farfus was 0.326 seconds faster than Martine in Tuesday’s test at the circuit near Heidelberg, posting the best time in the day’s afternoon session.
Audi drivers were third, fourth and fifth, with Nico Müller leading the trio ahead of Miguel Molina and Timo Scheider.
Time were surprisingly spaced out considering the amount of running each driver clocked up, with BMW’s Martin Tomczyk in sixth the only other driver to be within a second of Farfus’ pace.
Timo Glock ended the day as the slowest driver, 3.171 seconds off the pace after only taking part in the morning session. The German’s session ended early when he spun off and had a small accident, enough to curtail his involvement for the day.
Testing continues on Wednesday at the circuit which hosts the season opener on 6 May.
