Team Abt Sportsline’s Miguel Molina set the pace at the Nürburgring for the second free practice session , as the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) enters the penultimate race weekend of the 2015 season.
The Spaniard set the fastest time of a 1:22.861 around the 3.629km track, ahead the fastest Mercedes driver of the session, Paul Di Resta, who was just 0.043 seconds behind.
Jamie Green and 2013 champion Mike Rockenfeller made it three Audis in the top four, as the Ingolstadt brand dominated proceedings in the Eifel region.
It was a close session, as all 24 drivers were split by just 0.930 seconds.
Adrien Tambay, Edoardo Mortara and Mattias Ekström placed seventh, eighth and tenth respectively, which clearly underlies the influence of performance weights, a major talking point this season.
Robert Wickens was the next of the best Mercedes drivers, taking fifth place ahead of current points leader Pascal Wehrlein, as Christian Vietoris posted the tenth fastest time.
BMW Motorsport were to feature at the bottom end of the timesheets, as Oschersleben race two winner Tom Blomqvist was the fastest of the Munich contingent in 15th.
Defending champion Marco Wittmann posted the 18th fastest time, 0.502 seconds off the pace set by Molina.
The 20-minute qualifying session for race 15 starts at 1015 CEST (0915 BST).
