Jimmy Clairet led an ALM Motorsport Honda 1-2-3 in the second and final FIA TCR World Tour practice session in Valencia thanks to a late lap.
Frenchman Clairet posted the top time of 1 minute 18.956 seconds around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo’s outer circuit on one of his final efforts, deposing Estonian team-mate Sten-Dorian Piirimägi by 0.232 seconds.
Piirimägi had been quickest for the ten minutes beforehand, but ultimately had to settle for second at the end of the day.
Jenson Brickley made it a Civic 1-2-3 in the times, a further 0.049 seconds adrift.
Santiago Urrutia was the best of the Geely Cyan Racing quartet in fourth, ahead of the top CUPRA of SP Compétition’s Aurélien Comte in fifth, just over half a second off the pace.
Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk was sixth, whilst the quickest of the Hyundai’s was Mikel Azcona in seventh, the BRC Racing driver 0.644 seconds adrift of the top time.
The top ten was completed by Cyan’s Yann Ehrlacher, BRC’s Norbert Michelisz and Monlau Motorsport’s FP1 pace-setter Viktor Andersson.
Qualifying gets underway at 10:45 CEST (09:45 BST) on Saturday.
