A wet second free practice for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) this morning saw Mercedes-Benz’s Robert Wickens fastest around the streets of the Norisring, as all there manufacturers were represented in the top three.
Last year’s pole setter and race winner posted a 54.933s around the 2.3km street track, 0.154 seconds ahead of 2013 champion Mike Rockenfeller.
BMW’s Timo Glock rounded out the top three, just 0.057 seconds ahead of two-time champion Timo Scheider, with current points leader Jamie Green in fifth.
Team Schnitzer’s Martin Tomczyk was the next highest-placed BMW driver in sixth, ahead of Mücke Motorsport’s Daniel Juncadella.
Pascal Wehrlein ended up eighth, despite both himself and Glock having grip issues in the first half of the session, but would be faster than both Augusto Farfus and Christian Vietoris, who completed the top ten.
First practice pace setter Gary Paffett, would end up just 0.082 seconds outside the top ten, posting the 12th fastest time behind Team Rosberg’s Nico Müller, with the field being separated by only 0.929 seconds.
Qualifying for race one this afternoon starts at 1325 CET (1225 BST).
