Jamie Green tops times in Lausitz second practice

Second practice for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) this morning at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz saw Team Rosberg’s Jamie Green post the fastest time ahead of the first qualifying session of the weekend.

The Briton was in top spot for the majority of the session, before he posted a new track record lap time of 1:17.430, ending up just 0.059 seconds ahead of Team Abt’s Edoardo Mortara, who currently leads the standings in the driver’s championship.

First practice pacesetter Tom Blomqvist was the highest placed BMW driver in third, ahead of Mercedes’ Robert Wickens, who posted the exact same time as Audi’s Miguel Molina, who completed the top five fastest drivers.

Mike Rockenfeller also set his fastest time with just 20 minutes to go, securing sixth place, as Audi Sport had all eight cars in the top ten shortly afterwards. Hockenheim race two winner, Mattias Ekström, led a trio of RS5 DTMs in seventh, with Team Phoenix’s Timo Scheider and Team Rosberg’s Nico Müller in tow.

Paul Di Resta completed the top ten, as the Scot posted a time that was 0.409 seconds slower than Green, ahead of last year’s race winner, Pascal Wehrlein. BMW Motorsport found half of their eight M4 DTMs at the bottom of the times, as Bruno Spengler, Timo Glock, António Félix da Costa and Martin Tomczyk seemed to struggle.

Qualifying for race one takes place at 15:00 CEST this afternoon (14:00 BST).
