19 cars have been revealed by the FIA for the season opener of next weekend’s TCR World Tour at Misano in Italy, with five different manufacturers represented in the field.
The headline in the entry is the four new Geely Preface cars which have been developed by Geely Group Motorsport with Cyan Racing, which will continue to be raced by the Swedish squad’s quartet of Yann Ehrlacher, Thed Björk, Santiago Urrutia and Ma Qing Hua.
Hyundai has entered two full-season drivers with the BRC Racing team, with regulars Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona also joined by guest entry Gabriele Covini for the Italian event.
GOAT Racing will field just one Honda, once again for the experienced Esteban Guerrieri, although the Japanese marque’s entry for the opening event has been bolstered by the addition of three Civics run by ALM Motorsport for Ruben Volt, Teddy Clairet and Jenson Brickley. A further Honda will appear with MM Motorsport for Ramiro Zago.
SP Compétition will once again field a pair of CUPRAs, with Aurélien Comte returning to the series to be partnered by compatriot Jean-Karl Vernay, who races in TCR for the first time in five years, the 38-year-old having been a TCR regular for six seasons from 2016 to 2021.
Viktor Andersson will also join the field in a third CUPRA run by Monlau Motorsport.
Finally, a further three Hyundais have been entered by the independent outfits JSB Compétition, for Julien Briché and Raphaël Fournier, and Trico WRT, for TCR Italy regular Damiano Reduzzi.
