Rod McGovern will continue to race in the TCR UK Championship in 2026, renewing his relationship with Power Maxed Racing for the forthcoming campaign.
McGovern has acquired the CUPRA Leon VZ car previously raced by Jenson Brickley to the 2025 TCR Europe title.
The Irishman made his TCR début in 2025, competing in three events at Donington Park, Silverstone and Oulton Park. Starting the season in a Hyundai i30 N TCR run by JH Racing, he switched to a PMR-run CUPRA for the third event of the year at Silverstone.
McGovern then concluded his season in the CUPRA run by JH Racing at Oulton Park, missing the final two events on the calendar.
McGovern, who competes in the Diamond Award category for drivers over the age of 40, was previously a race winner in the SEAT Supercup Ireland, also winning the title in 2017.
A testing programme is planned prior to the start of the season at Brands Hatch on 4 – 5 April.
“I’m really pleased to be returning to TCR UK and continuing with Power Maxed Racing,” said McGovern. “The team knows the championship inside out, and staying together gives us a great platform to keep progressing.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on track and building on what we’ve already learned.”
Championship Manager Jack Finlan added: “It’s great to see Rod continuing in the TCR UK Championship with Power Maxed Racing.
“He’s got a strong background in touring cars and valuable experience in TCR machinery, and continuity like this is always positive.
“We’re looking forward to seeing him back on the grid this season.”
