Trio of Italians join TCR Europe at Misano

A trio of TCR Italy regulars – Jacopo Cimenes, Michele Imberti and Sandro Pelatti – will join the grid for this weekend’s TCR Europe races at Misano.

Cimenes will be part of an expanded two-car MM Motorsport line-up, joining the team’s TCR Europe regular Marco Butti in a Honda Civic.

19-year-old Cimenes is currently sixth overall in TCR Italy, where he is contesting his second season, and recently scored a best finish of fourth at Monza. The youngster also contested last week’s FIA TCR World Tour round at Monza as a wildcard entry, taking a best finish of eighth in the opening race.

“The European series this year is really tough, with lots of fast and very experienced drivers—almost like a mini World Championship,” said Cimenes. “I can’t wait to get started—cheer for me!”

Team Principal Emauele Alborghetti is expecting Cimenes to work well with Butti at Misano.

“At Misano in the TCR Europe, we’ll reap the rewards of all this hard work,” said Alborghetti. “With a more straightforward weekend and Jacopo having Butti as a reference, I’m confident he’ll prove his worth in such a high-profile setting.”

Michele Imberti will return to the European series in his Hyundai Elantra, following a one-off entry at Monza in 2022. The 28-year-old has been a TCR Italy regular since 2020, and has scored two race wins, one apiece in 2022 and 2023, with both victories coming at Misano.

The Italian is currently ninth in this year’s TCR Italy standings, having scored one podium at the season opener, also at Misano.

The third additional entry, taking the field up to 20 cars, is Sandro Pelatti. The 57-year-old made his TCR début back in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2024 that he completed a full season in TCR Italy.

Pelatti has already enjoyed more success in 2025, scoring a best finish of seventh in the most recent race at Monza with PMA Motorsport.

Pelatti will be in the Audi normally raced by Felice Jelmini, who has clashing commitments this weekend.

“I am very happy to join the TCR Europe series here in Misano, especially this year with this amazing grid,” said Pelatti.

“I can’t wait to go back on track after last weekend in Monza, I will give it all and try to do my best with PMA Motorsport.”
