Senna Proctor delighted to get into ‘Quick Six’ on BTCC return

Senna Proctor was pleased to get into the ‘Quick Six’ in qualifying on his return to the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton, even though an electrical issue cost him a chance of further improvement.

Having been consistently inside the top ten in both free practice sessions earlier in the day, Proctor was able to progress through qualifying on Saturday, ending his Q1 session in fourth before then going fifth in Q2 to progress to the final part of qualifying.

Despite more than three years away from the BTCC, Proctor showed strong pace on Saturday, being beaten only by experienced Team Vertu team-mate Tom Ingram on Saturday.

Proctor explained that although he wasn’t hoping for rain, he was pleased with his car’s setup in all conditions he encountered.

“I’ve had a few years out of the car and it’s good to come back in with no testing, qualify in sixth and get into the ‘Quick Six’,” said Proctor to TouringCars.Net. “We had a little electrical glitch in the car, but I think it was just some water in some connector.

“We seemed to have really good pace in the dry this morning, and I felt very confident, so I wasn’t really wanting the rain – the mixed weather definitely didn’t help.

“Despite that, the balance never shifted – the car felt very good in the wet as well. Credit to the team; they’ve put together a good car and I’ve managed to produce a lap time in it that’s good enough to get into the top six.”

Proctor admitted that he is slightly nervous about being a bit rusty at a race start, although he has had limited recent practice.

“I’m looking forward to the races. I’ve done a few practice starts, but nothing major, so the start might be a bit of a question mark. I’ll try to get off the line as best as I can and push forwards.

“We might as well set our sights high and do the best we can and get three good results for the team.”

Proctor has his sights set on a full season in 2026, and was pleased to be able to get in the car earlier than planned in 2025 as part of the process of building up for next year.

“Justina [Wiliams, Team Owner] put a package together for me a few months ago for the second half of the year and we’ve had the opportunity to jump in the car earlier and I’ve grabbed that with both hands.

“I’m looking forward to getting the rest of the season underway, get the best results we can and build for 2026.

“I’ll be in the car for the rest of the year and I’m going to be trying to get wins and podiums.

“We seem to have a very good car so it’s just down to me to be able to drive it.”
