Jack Butel joins Excelr8 Trade Price Cars for 2021

Jack Butel will move to the Excelr8 Trade Price Cars team for the 2021 British Touring Car Championship season, where the Jersey-based driver will race a Hyundai i30 Fastback N.

Butel made his BTCC début in 2020, joining Ciceley Motorsport in a late deal to race its second Mercedes-Benz A Class.

Butel finished all except one race in 2020, securing a best finish of 14th in the final race at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in August.

The BTCC rookie also ended the year third in the Jack Sears’ Trophy, behind winner Michael Crees and second-placed Carl Boardley.

With two additional Hyundai i30 Fastback N cars being built for the 2021 season for the cooperation between Excelr8 Motorsport and Trade Price Cars, Butel is joining the expanded four-car team for his sophomore season in the series.

“To say that I am incredibly excited to be racing for Excelr8 Trade Price Cars and Justina Williams in 2021, would be a serious understatement.” said Butel.

“I am grateful to Ciceley Motorsport for giving me the opportunity to race in the BTCC this year. I learned a lot from the team and Adam Morgan, and I wish them all the best for the future.

“However, I feel like this is the right move for me. Excelr8 Trade Price Cars is a young team with a lot of potential and I believe that together we can score some great results next year.”

Excelr8 Team Owner Justina Williams expects that Butel will be able to move the team closer to the front of the grid, thanks to the 24-year-old’s diverse racing experience.

“I am absolutely delighted to have attracted Jack to our team,” said Williams. “He has vast experience from winning back-to-back titles in karting, then moving up the ranks racing in LMP, British GT4, F4 and had his debut year in BTCC in 2020.

“For 2021, the plan is to bring Jack on and continue his journey towards the sharp end of the BTCC, as we know we have the raw speed and the key ingredients in helping us to make this happen. Bring it on!”
