Rory Butcher receives five position grid penalty for contact with Colin Turkington

AmD Tuning’s Rory Butcher has received a five place grid penalty for the third British Touring Car Championship race at Knockhill following an incident with Colin Turkington in race two.

The Scot secured pole position and converted it to a race one victory despite relentless pressure from Andrew Jordan, regaining the lead on the final lap from the Pirtek-backed BMW.

In the second race, Jordan used the superior start of the rear-wheel drive BMW 3 Series to power past Butcher into turn one, with the latter then losing out to Dan Cammish at the Taylor’s hairpin on lap six.

Turkington capitalised on that move and made the move stick into Duffus Dip, before Butcher fought back and looked down the inside into McIntyre’s, pitching the BMW into a spin and out of the vital points-paying positions.

He has received a five position grid penalty for the incident, meaning he will start race three from 13th on the grid.
