Andrew Jordan ends winning drought with closely fought victory

Andrew Jordan claimed the honours in the second race of the day at Thruxton and took his first win in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship since Croft in 2014. Behind him came local hero Rob Collard and the winner of the opening race, Adam Morgan.

Jordan made the best start, passing Tom Ingram and claiming second whilst Morgan made a break further ahead. Ingram’s luck lasted barely a lap as he was penalised with a drive-through penalty for jumping the start, whilst further back Jeff Smith spun out on the exit of Seagrave whilst spearheading Eurotech’s charge inside the top ten.

Gordon Shedden completed a fantastic recovery drive after crashing out of the first encounter to finish fourth, and he could easily have completed the podium finishers, however team-mate Matt Neal was only able to manage eleventh despite both striking orange and black Type R machines having their ballast boxes emptied after their clash in race one.

There were a number of surprises in the top ten, with both series returnee Daniel Lloyd and Daniel Welch finishing in seventh and ninth respectively, however the MG duo of Josh Cook and Ashley Sutton were only able to make steady progress as they finished 12th and 15th.

The final race of the day gets underway at 17:17, and the reverse grid draw is imminent on ITV4.
