ALM Motorsport’s Mike Halder was the fastest driver in a drying second practice for the TCR Europe series at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, almost a second clear of anyone else.
The German lapped the circuit in 2 minutes 30.965 seconds – some 2.364 seconds slower than the top time in the earlier session – thanks to a rain shower which arrived at the circuit just before the session began.
The Honda driver emerged 0.951 seconds faster than team-mate Max Hart in a session which thus saw almost continual improvements from drivers, after initial laps were half a minute slower than earlier in the day.
First practice pace-setter Nicolas Taylor was third fastest as the leading Audi, just over two seconds adrift of Halder, with Aikoa Racing’s Santiago Concepción in fourth thanks to a late improvement.
Monlau Motorsport’s Adam Shepherd was the best of the CUPRA sextet in fifth, ahead of the top Hyundai of Solite Indigo Racing’s Junesung Park in sixth, the South Korean driver getting his first laps in of the day after earlier missing FP1.
Series returnee Stian Paulsen put his Audi in seventh, ahead of the BRC Racing Hyundai of Alex Ley in eighth, whilst the top ten was completed by Monlau Motorsport’s Marco Butti and the second Indigo Racing Hyundai of Junui Park.
Qualifying gets underway at 12:10 CEST (11:10 BST) on Saturday.
