TCR World Tour introduces grid boost for fastest lap driver

WSC will introduce a change to the sporting regulations for the 2026 FIA TCR World Tour, with the driver who posts the fastest lap in race one getting a one-place grid boost for race two.

Race two will continue to feature a partial reverse-grid as it has done in previous seasons.

Qualifying will continue to be split into Q1 and Q2, with the top dozen cars in Q1 progressing into the second part of qualifying.

The grid for race one will be based upon the fastest lap times in Q2 and Q1 combined.

For race two, the top ten in the combined qualifying result are reversed. The new change also means that the driver who posts the fastest lap in race one gets a grid position boost of one place.

As long as the driver with the fastest lap in race one wasn’t tenth in qualifying (which would give them pole position anyway), they will advance a place on the race two grid.

For event which have three races (Spain, South Korea and China), the positions for the race three grid will be determined by the sum of the points scored in qualifying, race one and race two.
