Two-time TCR UK champion Carl Boardley returns to the grid

Two-time TCR UK champion Carl Boardley will return to the grid in 2026, joining new team DTR Racing in one of its new Honda Civic Type-R FKL5 TCR cars.

Boardley, 50, made his touring car début back in 2018 when he first stepped into the British Touring Car Championship for the Knockhill round.

The Suffolk racer then spent three full seasons in the BTCC from 2019 to 2021, changing car each season and ultimately scoring just one top ten result during his 93 races.

For 2023, Boardley moved to TCR UK in a CUPRA Leon Competición, winning four races on his way to the title in his first year.

He continued in the series in 2024, successfully defending his title in another strong season with five wins and 14 podium finishes.

After a year away due to business commitments, Boardley will return to the grid in 2026 keen to secure a third title racing under the banner of DTR with CBM. Boardley is also planning to make some European outings this year.

“I’m delighted to announce my return to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship for 2026,” said Boardley. “I am looking forward to getting my teeth into the DTR with CBM run Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR.

“Whilst a new business acquisition has kept me away from racing last year, I’m back, hungry and ready to put in the required work to fight at the front of the field with one clear aim: to win the 2026 title.

“I’ve never been afraid to take on a new challenge in motorsport, and this year is no different. I’m with a new team, a car that hasn’t been near the front in UK competition previously, that is new to me and I’m coming back after a year’s break.

“The hunger hasn’t gone away, and more than ever, I want to make my mark on the Championship by becoming the first driver to win the title three times.”
