One Motorsport has announced that it will be absent from the British Touring Car Championship for at least the next two events, citing the health of team owner Steve Dudman as the primary reason for its absence.
Dudman, 65, has reportedly experienced health issues in recent weeks, which in turn has had a knock-on effect of the operations of his businesses, with him being listed as an active director of 78 companies.
As a result, One Motorsport will not compete in North Yorkshire or Scotland, with the earliest possible return for the team, which fields Honda Civics for Josh Cook and Stephen Jelley, being Donington Park at the end of August.
Cook is currently eighth overall in the drivers’ standings, having scored two podium finishes at Snetterton and Croft. Perhaps more significantly, it effectively ends Cook’s chances of the Independent drivers’ championship, where he was second, just seven points behind Chris Smiley.
It is the second BTCC hiatus for the team, which also missed the 2024 season, before returning in 2025.
A statement from the team read as follows:
“One Motorsport regrets to announce that it will miss the next two race weekends of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Croft (2 – 3 August) and Knockhill (16 – 17 August).
“This decision has been made as a result of Team Owner Steve Dudman experiencing a number of ongoing health issues in recent weeks.
“With Steve rightfully focussing on his health and wellbeing, this has meant that he has been unable to run his large portfolio of businesses on a daily basis – all of which play a part in the day-to-day operation of One Motorsport.
“No fixed date has been confirmed for the team’s on-track return, but the hope is that both Honda Civic Type-R machines will compete again later in the season.
“Everyone at One Motorsport extends their best wishes to Steve during this time and wish him a swift recovery.”
