Motorsport UK, the governing body of UK motorsport, and TOCA have agreed a five-year extension to their British Touring Car Championship agreement.
The announcement means that TOCA (legally known as BARC (TOCA) Limited) will continue to operate and promote the BTCC until the end of 2031.
The current contract had been due to end in 2026, but the extension means that TOCA will extend its run as being the organiser and promoter of the championship.
TOCA, under Alan Gow, ran the BTCC during the Super Touring era from 1991 to 2000, before British Motorsport Promoters (BMP) took over in 2001.
Gow returned in 2003, with BARC (TOCA) Ltd set up to take over in 2005. Since then, the agreement for TOCA to run the championship has been extended on several occasions, including in 2017 and 2019, the last time the contract was extended.
“This agreement is important for the sustained growth of the championship,” said BTCC Chief Executive Alan Gow.
“The BTCC has been in safe hands for many years and this continuity of the commitment between TOCA and Motorsport UK ensures enduring stability for all our teams and stakeholders.
“As well, it enables us to commit to our updated technical regulations for 2027 and beyond, which will be released later this month, as well as all the other important elements in order to ensure the continued success and vibrancy of the BTCC.”
