FIA TCR World Tour to feature 20 races in 2025

The 2025 FIA TCR World Tour will consist of 20 races held over eight events this year, after the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the change to three-race weekends in four events.

In 2024, each event consisted of two rounds, making a total of 14 races over the seven-event season.

That contrasted with the inaugural season, when 20 races were held over nine events, the total being boosted by three-race weekends at the two Australian events, to match the local promoters weekend format.

The FIA TCR World tour will therefore introduce three-race weekends again in 2025, with the events in Mexico, Spain, Australia and South Korea to feature the format.

Four different event formats have been outlined, although one format (number two) with different race lengths, as previously used in South America, will not be used in 2025 due to no races being held in conjunction with TCR South America this year.

In events with three races, the grid for race two will continue to be determined by the reversal of the top ten final qualifying positions. The grid for race three will be based on the total points scored in qualifying, race one and race two (as in the TCR Australia sporting format).
