Viktor Andersson to take part in opening three TCR UK rounds

Swedish Youngster Viktor Andersson will make his début in TCR UK next weekend, racing a Lynk & Co 03 run by Pro Alloys Racing as he looks to expand his 2024 programme.

Andersson, 20, has already confirmed a programme in TCR Europe with the updated Lynk & Co car, which he will dovetail with outings in the opening three TCR UK events of 2024, at new full-season entrant Pro Alloys Racing.

The team, which already featured in TCR UK with Alistair Camp last year, who gave them their first win in the category, had already announced Ryan Bensley in the first of its cars, which will now be taken over by Andersson for the start of the season.

Racing for father Mattias Andersson’s MA:GP team, Viktor Andersson scored a pole position in only his second TCR Europe event at Pau, and claimed a maiden podium in the season finale in Barcelona.

“I’m really excited to make my TCR UK debut with Pro Alloys Racing,” said Andersson. “This all came together quite late and I’ve never raced at Brands Hatch before, so I’m keeping my expectations modest.

“We’re heading straight to Brands from a pre-season test in central Europe, then straight to Vallelunga and the TCR Europe premiere after this weekend.

“It will be hectic, but it will be a good first proper outing for me to prepare for my TCR Europe season.”

Pro Alloys Racing Team Manager Neil Greenland explained the decision to swap Bensley for Andersson at the start of the season.

“As a team, we made the joint decision with Ryan to not commit to Brands Hatch, as we felt we were not prepared enough with our limited time with the cars,” explained Greenland.

“After multiple discussions with Mattias Andersson regarding the setup for the Lynk & Co, we came to an arrangement that his Son Viktor Andersson would be a great development driver for rounds 1, 2 & 3 of the TCR UK campaign at Brands Hatch.

“With the father/son duo having plenty of experience and great results in TCR Scandinavia and TCR Europe, it was a no-brainer for the team.

“A massive thank you goes to Mattias, Viktor, everyone at Geely Group Motorsport and to Maximum Motorsports for making this happen.”
