SP Compétition enters TCR Europe with Comte and Scamardi

French team SP Compétition has confirmed a two-car entry into this year’s TCR Europe series, with Aurélien Comte and Giovanni Scamardi racing a pair of new CUPRA León VZ TCR cars.

The team is headed up by Sylain Pussier, who himself raced in TCR Europe in 2021, before competing more recently in TCR Italy in 2022 and 2023, all in CUPRA machinery.

Comte, 35, last contested a full TCR Europe season in 2019, having also won a race in the FIA World Touring Car Cup the year before.

The Frenchman didn’t race in TCR in 2021 and 2022, but returned to TCR Italy in 2023, where he scored two wins and five podiums in a title-challenging season that saw him end the year third overall.

He also contested one-off events in TCR Europe at Circuit Paul Ricard and the TCR World Tour at Vallelunga.

Belgian Scamardi, 29, made his TCR début last year with Aggressive Team Italia in a Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Like Comte, he took part in TCR Italy, and also made a one-off outing in TCR Europe at Monza, where he took a seventh-place finish.

SP Compétition is the second TCR Europe team to confirm the new CUPRA León VZ TCR as its car for 2024, with Monlau Motorsport also running the new evolution for Franco Girolami and Viktor Davidovski.
