Fabio Casagrande signs up for a fourth season in TCR South America

Brazilian racer Fabio Casagrande will continue in TCR South America in 2024, once again racing a Honda Civic Type-R TCR prepared by Squadra Martino.

The 48-year-old has contested all bar one race in the series, and for the past two seasons he has won the Trophy Cup for semi-professional racers.

Casagrande’s success has not been limited to the class in the series, though. In 2022, in the endurance race at Termas de Río Hondo, he won the race outright partnered with Esteban Guerrieri.

In the overall championship, Casagrande’s best season was in 2021, racing an Alfa Romeo Giulietta with PropCar Racing before switching to a Honda Civic with Squadra Martino halfway through the year. He finished sixth overall in a season in which few drivers contested all races.

After finishing seventh overall in 2022, last year Casagrande was 16th in a much more competitive championship, although he still scored four top ten finishes.

“I am very happy to confirm my participation in the 2024 season of both TCR South America and TCR Brazil,” said Casagrande. “I débuted in the first season of the category in 2021, and I will continue in it for another year.

“It is a category that is growing a lot, with a fantastic level of organization and where I feel at home. I am also very happy to be part of the Squadra Martino team again, a team that I often say is my Argentine family.

“With them I won runner-up and was two-time South American champion in the Trophy Cup. This year we are going for more.”

Team Principal Sebastián Martino is looking forward to continuing the team’s relationship with Casagrande, alongside team-mates Enrique Maglione and Juan Manuel Casella.

“Completing a new year of work with Fabio only makes me very happy,” added Martino. “Together we have gone through a good part of these first years of TCR South America, achieving the Trophy Cup on two occasions.

“The challenge is to continue working as we have been doing. Without a doubt, the idea is to finish the championship as high as possible and fight for the third title in the Trophy.”
