Darron Lewis confirms switch to Hyundai for 2024 TCR UK

Darron Lewis has confirmed he will make the switch to a Hyundai i30 N for the 2024 TCR UK season, with his car to be prepared by JH Racing.

Lewis, 49, made his TCR début in 2022, although he was already a familiar face in the paddock, having competed in the Touring Car Trophy in selected rounds in 2019 and 2021 in former BTCC machinery.

Last year, Lewis took part in four of the season’s seven events in a first-generation Audi RS3 LMS TCR, missing some events due to clashing business commitments, he scored a best finish of 14th having only finished three races in his self-run car.

Lewis will be eligible for both the overall championship and the Diamond Trophy and will be team-mate to Callum Newsham.

“I love my racing and taking part in TCR UK has given me that passion to continue on,” said Lewis. “Last year was a difficult year with the Audi, so I’m back in a Hyundai, which is one of the most successful brands in TCR competition globally.

“I’m ready to come back and take on the new season in the new car, where I’m aiming to go out there and achieve some top ten finishes, which may also result in the odd race two grid pole position!

“The Goodyear Diamond Award is in my sights; however, I just want to go out and enjoy my racing again.”
