Aiden Moffat completes driver line-up for Speedworks satellite team

Aiden Moffat has completed the driver line-up for LKQ Euro Car Parts with Synetiq in the 2024 British Touring Car Championship, partnering Josh Cook in a Speedworks Motorsport-run Toyota Corolla.

Moffat, 27, is entering into his 11th full season in the BTCC, and his 12th overall, by changing both team and car.

The Scot, who at 16 was the youngest driver ever to race in the BTCC when he made his début in 2013, has been a mainstay in the championship ever since.

The four-time race winner thus joins Cook in switching to the Speedworks team for the 2024 season, after just one year in Honda Civic machinery.

Moffat is targeting a return to the front of the field, having finished a career-best eighth overall in 2021 in his second of three full seasons in Infiniti machinery, before slipping to 18th and 16th overall in the two subsequent seasons.

“I’m really excited to join Speedworks and LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ in the Toyota Corolla while continuing to race alongside Josh,” said Moffat.

“The car looked very strong in so many areas last year, and seeing where the team is already working to improve – with a solid pre-season testing plan in-place – fills me with a lot of confidence that I can get back to fighting at the front.

“A massive thank you to all my loyal sponsors and everybody involved in making this deal happen, and of course all of the Speedworks team for their belief in me.

“It’s great to have the buzz back heading into this season. Let’s get going!”

Speedworks Team Principal Christian Dick is looking forward to working with the experienced but ‘youthful’ racer.

“Aiden is an established race-winner in the BTCC and arrives with a rare blend of youth and experience – there are not many 27-year-olds with ten full seasons under their belt,” added Dick.

“He is a fast and uncompromising racer who I have no doubt will get the very best out of the Toyota Corolla.

“His prior relationship with Josh is also clearly a benefit. We know how well they work together, and between them, they tick every box for what it takes to be successful in the series.

“It promises to be a fantastic season ahead for LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ. We can’t wait to go racing!”
