Tom Ingram sets the pace as all important finale kick starts at Brands Hatch

Tom Ingram shows his pace as he has to outscore title rival Ash Sutton by the end of race one to keep his championship hopes alive.

After a red flag-interrupted first practice, Ingram shows how he means to go on flying to the top of the timesheet. Despite the pace the EXCELR8 driver was still over one second off his lap record time of 2022.

Jake Hill was the driver behind Ingram at the top of the timesheets after setting the most laps of the session with 17. Setting a 1:30.730 the MB Motorsport driver was 0.018 seconds behind Ingram.

Ash Sutton completed the first practice session in full championship mode. Ingram is within his sight only 0.172 seconds ahead. The pace will be as apparent as ever come qualifying as the NAPA Racing UK cars have taken eight of the nine poles so far this year.

Ricky Collard showed the pace of the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK team making it four teams in the top four. The #37 car will be reminiscent of his win that was taken away earlier this year at the Indy circuit.

Stephen Jelley made it two BMW’s inside the top five. The Team BMW car was 0.251 seconds off the pace. It was Jelley’s teammate Adam Morgan that caused the red flag after coming to a stop coming out of Graham Hill Bend.

Bobby Thompson again showed his pace to bring his Cupra in to sixth. After his hiatus through the middle of the season Thompson is another that will remember his pace at the start of the season after a podium on the Indy circuit.

In seventh was the third and final BMW in the top 10 driven by Colin Turkington. The #4 car set the second most laps of the session as the BMW’s were the team easily with the most mileage. Turkington was 0.312 seconds behind Ingram.

Rory Butcher was the driver who finished eighth in first practice. The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK team showing some early pace for the final weekend. Butcher ended up 0.463 seconds off of Ingram.

In ninth was Dan Cammish who made it two NAPA Racing UK cars in the top 10. Cammish was only 0.042 seconds off the back of Butcher. Cammish currently sits 17 points behind Josh Cook in the standings as Cook finished the session 11th.

Rounding out the top 10 was the third and final Toyota. George Gamble made sure that Toyota were the only manufacturer to get all their cars in the top 10. Gamble ended the session 0.759 seconds behind Ingram.
