Cyan Racing’s Yann Ehrlacher remained on top of the times in second practice for the TCR World Tour and TCR South America at La Pedrera in Argentina, in a red-flag interrupted session.
Ehrlacher wasn’t as fast as in first practice on Friday, with the cold conditions precluding fast lap times in the circuit in Villa Mercedes, San Luis.
The Lynk & Co driver ultimately set his best time of 1 minute 46.315 seconds, which was just under a second slower than on Friday, to stay on top, six tenths of a second ahead of BRC Racing’s Mikel Azcona.
It’s the second session in a row that the top two have been Ehrlacher and Azcona, and once again the Spaniard was unable to get within half a second of the leading Lynk & Co.
This time, Azcona’s team-mate Norbert Michelisz was third, the only other driver within a second of the pace.
Cyan Racing duo Santiago Urrutia and Thed Björk were fourth and fifth fastest respectively.
The leading TCR South America driver was Scuderia Chiarelli’s Pedro Cardoso in sixth, just under a second and a half slower than the fastest of the TCR World Tour drivers.
The Brzilian was just ahead of a strong performance by Toyota Team Argentina’s Bernardo Llaver in seventh, with the leading Comtoyou Racing Audi of Frédéric Vervisch in eighth.
The top ten was completed by the Toyota of Esteban Guerrieri and the Audi of Rob Huff.
Several drivers had incidents in the session, including Juan Manuel Casella, who crashed into the barriers and damaged the front-right and rear-right wheels of his Honda extensively.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 11:00 local time (15:00 BST, 16:00 CEST).
