After the news of the withdrawal of Dan Cammish the rain came and boosted George Gamble to the top of the times. The red flag was caused by a parked Daryl De Leon after a wheel became loose after McLeans.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK car topped the timesheet with a time of 1:34.836, 1.166 seconds off of Cammish’s time from FP1. Behind was a fast charging Team BMW car in the form of Adam Morgan only 0.031 seconds back.
Dan Rowbottom made it three teams in the top three putting together more laps than both the cars in front. Despite that the NAPA Racing UK car was still 0.267 seconds from finding himself inside the top two.
In fourth is the first of two Team BMW cars with Stephen Jelley leading the two. Jelley ending the session with 0.120 second gap from putting himself right behind teammate Jelley.
The second of the pair is Colin Turkington. The #4 car completed the most laps of the session and the most of either session with 14. Turkington was 0.570 seconds off of the top spot.
Árón Taylor-Smith continues to fly the flag for Power Maxed Racing placing his Vauxhall in sixth. The Irishman has been inside the top 10 continuously finding himself 0.119 seconds outside of the top five.
Jake Hill makes it all four BMW’s inside the top seven. The MB Motorsport driver was 0.171 seconds away from making it three BMW’s in a row. With Ash Sutton in P18 and Tom Ingram in P20 Hill will be looking forward to putting a solid performance to start to eat into his 50 point deficit.
Dan Lloyd was the lead Cupra in eighth. Being the first driver outside one second of Gamble’s time. The Cupra’s looked strong in the mixed conditions as Lloyd was not the only one inside the top 10.
In ninth was Andrew Watson who continued to show his pace as he did at his first appearance in the championship at Donington Park earlier this year. Finishing the session only 0.469 behind teammate Taylor-Smith.
Rounding out the top 10 was Michael Crees. Setting the least laps of anyone in FP2 Crees still put together a time worthy of the top 10. Finishing 1.403 seconds off of Gamble and 0.315 behind Lloyd in the same car.
