Tom Ingram sprints clear topping FP2 at Croft

Tom Ingram showed his pace had not disappeared in FP1 after placing his EXCELR8 Hyundai on the top spot by 0.135 seconds.

Ingram was only 20th in FP1 but turned it all around in the second session of the weekend. It was a familiar car behind in second in a NAPA Racing UK Ford but not title rival Ash Sutton. Dan Cammish was the pacesetter for the team setting a 1:22.574.

Josh Cook showed his pace in the morning session was not a one off. The One Motorsport team have reworked the car to make Cook as comfortable as he can be. At the death of the session the #66 car was 0.031 seconds behind Cammish and 0.166 seconds off Ingram.

Behind was the first of three BMW’s with the first being Jake Hill of MB Motorsport. Hill was the lead of a trio of BMW’s all split by less than a tenth of a second. In fifth was Team BMW’s Stephen Jelley who was 0.012 seconds off of Hill.

Continuing the trio was Colin Turkington who found himself in sixth despite only being 0.316 seconds off of Ingram. Turkington set the joint most laps in both practice sessions as he may not top the timesheet but he does on mileage. Who knows if the experience gained will pay off.

In Seventh is Dan Lloyd who found himself nine places ahead of any other Cupra. Despite there being a gap car-to-car, the field has been incredibly tight. Apart from Ingram to Cammish, there was no gap larger than one tenth all the way down to Sam Osborne in 22nd.

Adam Morgan made it all four BMW’s inside the top 10. Only missing out on making it four in a row by 0.008 seconds. Morgan would finish ahead of Butcher who was again solely flying the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK flag.

Rounding out the top 10 was championship leader Ash Sutton. The NAPA Racing UK driver was 0.523 seconds off of Ingram. Not setting the pace of the morning session with a 1:22.962 leaving him 0.093 seconds behind Butcher.

What will certainly catch the eye is that Lloyd is the only one not in the top 10 in the championship ahead of Sutton in this session. The one driver missing is Ricky Collard who is 10th in the standings, meaning all eight of Suttons nearest competitors were faster than him this session.
