Jake Hill: The weekend was ‘Terrible’ as he drops to fourth in the standings

Jake Hill came into the weekend having scooped up a lot of points last time out and third in the standings. After Croft his mood is not the same as before.

A best of 11 points came in race one. The weekend did not improve from there. When asked how to sum up the weekend, Hill used one word.

“Terrible.” Hill told TouringCars.Net. “It’s not been our best performance. Qualifying was okay, P6, and then race one, obviously stayed there, P6 again, not too bad. A couple of mistakes by myself in race two and three with a couple of spins just ruined everything, but just having to hang on to it so hard.

“We just got zero straight-line pace compared to any other car on the grid, really. So, having to drive just super hard, and it’s, yeah, not the most pleasant thing to be in at the minute.”

After describing it as ‘not the most pleasant’ and ‘having to hang on to it’ the set up of the car was not in question.

“No, no, not at all, no. It’s just rubbish in a straight line. So, you know, having to drive the wheels off it to be anywhere close. I think it’s a lot easier when you’re at the front as Colin was and demonstrated in that last run. It’s just been challenging.”

After a less than ideal weekend, Hill is more optimistic about Knockhill. After having a good trip there last season there is much to be happy about.

“For sure. We had a great Knockhill last year in 22, so hopefully we can just get our act together again and go and have a strong weekend.”
