Josh Cook storms clear by over half a second in FP2 at Thruxton

Josh Cook continued his morning speed placing his One Motorsport Honda over 0.5 seconds clear in FP2 at Thruxton.

Cook left it late to show his pace once more leading reigning champion Tom Ingram by 0.516 seconds. The pace of the #66 car has not been matched by anyone with that last session before qualifying being the largest gap so far.

Ingram put himself at the front of the best of the rest group as behind him there was not a gap over 0.100 seconds until ninth place. Despite the gap out front the EXCELR8 driver finished ahead of Bobby Thompson by 0.069 seconds.

Thompson himself brought back some of the pace that seemed to elude him at Snetterton after a promising Brands round. Placing the Cupra in the top three is the first time in any session he had been in any of those positions since his podium at Brands.

Behind by only 0.088 seconds was the NAPA Racing UK car of Dan Rowbottom. Rowbottom improving himself after moving up seven positions from FP1. Being the leading car of the team heading into qualifying was a well received boost.

Jake Hill made it two sessions in a row where there were five different teams inside the top 5. The MB Motorsport driver led the fight for the BMW’s missing out on Rowbottom by only 0.002 seconds.

The first repeat manufacturer was in the form of championship leader Ash Sutton. Sutton did not have the pace of the morning session but as we have learnt so far this season that will mean nothing come qualifying.

Ricky Collard made it two sessions in a row with a Toyota Gazoo Racing UK car in the top 10. Collard had split two NAPA Racing UK cars with only 0.053 seconds splitting all three cars.

The third of that trio was Dan Cammish who has quietly collected himself in the run up to qualifying at Thruxton. Being the the last driver to be within a tenth of the car in front since Ingram creating a chasing group for Cook.

Cook’s One Motorsport teammate Aiden Moffat was also inside the top 10 in ninth. The Scotsman outpaced Árón Taylor-Smith in the final places of the top 10. The gap between the two only being 0.057 seconds.
