Rory Butcher showed the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK teams pace in the last practice before qualifying at Brands Hatch Indy.
Butcher set a 53.978 second lap making himself only one of three drivers to fall below the 54 second mark. The top three were eventually split by 0.017 seconds to emphasise how close the field is on the shortened Brands Hatch circuit.
Behind Butcher, making it two from two of second places in practice, was Ash Sutton setting a time of 53.983 seconds. The NAPA Racing UK driver has been at the sharp end consistently on the Saturday with ever changing conditions making the Ford look quick in all conditions.
In third was the highest independant driver by 11 positions in the form of Bobby Thompson who in his Team HARD car set a 53.995. The Brit was one of many Cupra drivers enjoying a better morning of running in comparison to Donington Park after having much more preparation behind the wheel.
Jake Hill in the MB Motorsport BMW made it two sessions from two inside the top five after topping the first session. The field was much tighter than the earlier session as Hill was the third driver to be within 0.100 seconds of Butcher.
Rounding out the top five was Ricky Collard who showed consistency remaining in the top 10 after both free practice sessions. Setting a 54.057 second lap Collard made sure the top five were all separated by less than 0.100 seconds.
Behind was Colin Turkington in the Team BMW car ahead of Donington podium-sitter Tom Chilton with the EXCELR8 team. Chilton setting the least laps of anyone inside the top 10 on what was a consistently wet track of 16 laps with 29 being the most in that group.
In eighth was Ronan Pearson who was the middle of an EXCELR8 trio as behind was teammate Tom Ingram. Pearson became the first driver to be outside 0.250 seconds of the frontman Butcher.
Rounding out the Top 10 was championship leader Dan Cammish who did not look as consistent as teammate Sutton. Despite there being many positions between them the top 10 were only covered by 0.311 seconds meaning it could be anyone’s to take come qualifying.
