Pau replaces Red Bull Ring on TCR Europe calendar

The organisers of the Pau Grand Prix have revealed that the French street circuit is to replace the Red Bull Ring on the 2023 TCR Europe calendar.

In an announcement made last month, the organisers of the iconic French street race have confirmed that the event planned to originally take place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria in September will now be replaced by a street race at Pau on 12 – 14 May, making it the second event of the year.

It marks a first visit for TCR Europe to the streets of Pau, and a second French event. After the first TCR Europe street race at the Norisring in Germany last year, Pau is the second street venue.

World Touring Cars returned to Pau last year for the first time in 13 years, although it should be noted that the TCR Europe date is not part of this year’s TCR World Tour calendar.

“I hope the whole TCR Europe family will enjoy the atmosphere of racing on the street circuit of Pau,” said TCR Europe Promoter Paulo Ferreira.

“Personally, I love this type of event, especially for Touring Cars. TCR racing is a show that deserves to be seen by as wide an audience as possible and so we welcome the opportunity to bring the show to the fans.

“Our drivers deserve this opportunity to race at such an iconic venue.”
