Lynk & Co Cyan Racing commits to new TCR World Tour

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has committed to competing with four cars in the new TCR World Tour in 2023, continuing to field the Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

Swedish team Cyan Racing controversially withdrew from the final season of the FIA World Touring Car Cup part-way through the 2022 season, citing concerns about tyre safety and the TCR Balance of Performance.

However, it has announced that it will compete in the follow-on WSC-promoted TCR World Tour in 2023, which will see a global calendar formed by partnering with regional and national TCR series’ around the world.

“We are delighted to continue our successful and long-term cooperation with Lynk & Co and Geely Group Motorsport in World Touring Cars with the new and exciting TCR World Tour from 2023 and beyond,” said Fredrik Wahlén, Team Manager of Cyan Racing.

“This is the highest level of touring car racing and with new sporting regulations, as well as new tyres compared to the WTCR, we have no doubt that the competition will be extremely tough.”

Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Geely Group Motorsport, supports Cyan Racing’s decision to race in the new series this year, continuing with the Chinese Lynk & Co manufacturer.

“We fully support Cyan Racing in the decision to enter the TCR World Tour, opening a new chapter of a hugely successful journey between the team and Lynk & Co which began in 2018,” said Murdzevski Schedvin.

“The decision of Lynk & Co Cyan Racing to enter the TCR World Tour further underlines our commitment to touring car racing as an unparalleled product marketing platform.”

No drivers have yet been revealed. Last year, the team employed five full-season drivers: Yann Ehrlacher, Yvan Muller, Thed Björk, Santiago Urrutia and Ma Qing Hua.

The 2023 TCR World Tour will feature races in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. The season commences on 28 – 30 April at Portimaõ in Portugal, as part of the opening TCR Europe event of the year.
