TOCA confirms 2023 BTCC TBL holders

TOCA has confirmed the ten organisations which will hold its TOCA BTCC Licence [TBL] required for entry into next year’s British Touring Car Championship, following yesterday’s deadline for entry approval.

Following the news at the start of this week that Ciceley Motorsport would not be continuing in the championship, both Speedworks Motorsport and West Surrey Racing have increased their licence count by one, having purchased the TBLs from the Lancashire outfit.

29 TBLs have been allocated, three fewer than for the 2022 season. Last year, TOCA loaned three TBLs out to BTC Racing, Team Dynamics and Speedworks Motorsport respectively.

Speedworks has now purchased a TBL direct from Ciceley, whilst BTC Racing and Team Dynamics will not this year take on a loaned TBL, having not utilised the loan option in 2022 after all.

Team HARD has increased its TBL count to four after purchasing one of the TBLs held by Carl Boardley Motorsport.

TOCA holds three TBLs in reserve for future entrants. BTCC Chief Executive Alan Gow has previously stated that he would like to see the grid size reduced gradually.

Providing all allocated TBLS are utilised in 2023, it means the BTCC grid will remain the same size as this season.
