Daniel Lloyd ‘feels very lucky’ after race three accident

Dan Lloyd tells fans he “got lucky” in an update after a serious accident in the final British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend.

Lloyd was fighting at the sharp end of the field when he was turned around. His Exceler8 car span back into traffic and Colin Turkington collided with the stranded Hyundai.

Both drivers were able to get out of the cars during a safety car period, but Lloyd was taken to hospital for checks.

“I’ve had an X-ray and a CT scan and it looks like I’ve got away with a bruised lung and some swollen bollocks!” he said in a social media post.

“Something didn’t sound right in my chest to the doctor so I feel very lucky with the end result.”

Lloyd also gave his interpretation of the crash, and which left his car ‘beyond a mess’.

“I’m devastated about what happened on track,” he said. “It was avoidable on my part but as soon as some contact was made I was stuck and couldn’t turn out of it.

“The car is beyond a mess, so hopefully we can find a way of getting out.

“Thanks to all the medical staff at the circuit, and thanks again for all the messages, it means a lot.”

Colin Turkington also commented after the race.

“The cars went either way in front of me, and I just had no chance to avoid the stationary car,” he said.

“It was a big hit. I’m pretty sore, but I’m sure I’ll be fine in a few days.”
