Jack Goff leaves Team HARD on eve of new BTCC season

Jack Goff has announced he is to step away from the British Touring Car Championship before the season gets underway, having previously had a deal to continue with Team HARD this year.

Goff, 31, has been near ever-present in the BTCC paddock for the past nine seasons, missing only one event during that time on his way to amassing 264 races and 5 victories.

He has raced with Tony Gilham’s Team HARD outfit for five of those seasons, most recently with a CUPRA Leon on his way to 17th overall in 2021.

Goff had signed a two-year deal back in 2020 covering the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but his absence at the official pre-season launch last week raised some questions.

He has now confirmed he is stepping back from the BTCC ‘for multiple reasons’.

“Sorry for the radio silence recently,” wrote Goff on social media. “A month ago I had to make the hardest decision after the Donington Park test and inform Team Hard that I will be stepping away from BTCC this 2022 season for multiple reasons.

“Team Hard came back with a new deal but unfortunately today I found out from them that this is no longer possible.

“This has been the hardest decision for me, but I hope to be back in the future. Thank you to all my loyal sponsors and amazing fans for the support.

“I wish all the best to Team HARD. Racing and Tony Gilham. I thank you for the years we have spent together.

“We had some great highlights together, including the podium in my debut season in 2013, getting the first win in 2019 for the team and then the first CUPRA Podium.

“We now look ahead to new opportunities!”
