Michael Clemente partners up with international DJ Carl Cox

Michael Clemente will return to the TCR Australia grid for the next event at Phillip Island, having partnered up with internationally renowned house and techno music producer Carl Cox.

Last year, Clemente raced a Honda Civic Type-R for his self-run team in all bar the final event, securing a best finish of fifth at Phillip Island on his way to 18th overall in the drivers’ standings.

Clemente, who missed the season opener last weekend, will now return to the series from the second round onwards, having partnered with Carl Cox Motorsport for 2022.

Cox, who has had his own aspirations in the drag racing and motorbike racing scene globally, will feature his Carl Cox Motorsport branding on Clemente’s car.

Carl Cox Motorsport has previously supported campaigns in the Isle of Man TT race, the Macau Grand Prix, World Super Bikes, British Super Bikes, Leadfoot Festival hill climb and the Goodwood Festival amongst others.

“I have often watched TCR in the past, but was recently introduced to Mike Clemente and once I understood his ambitions and enthusiasm, I wanted to help him progress on his journey,” said Cox.

“My motorsport passion has grown over the past few years and given the expansion of TCR, I felt it appropriate to support a young lad coming through the ranks.

“I am very excited to watch Mike’s progression through the season and have plans, if I can, to attend a race or two and give him the benefit of my global wisdom!”

Clemente admits that his partnership with Carl Cox Motorsport is still sinking in.

“To be fair, I thought it was a joke,” said Clemente. “To have someone like Carl Cox supporting me in TCR is not something that comes across your table every day.

“I’ve known of Carl for a number of years, and always liked his music, but I think it really hit home when I saw his logo on the car and realised this was actually happening.

“When one of your team sponsors has over 2.8 million people around the world following them on Facebook, I feel honoured that he would get involved, and think it’s great for the sport of TCR too.

“I cannot wait see him at a race and show him the car in detail.”
