Serbian racer Dušan Borković is set to return to the TCR Europe series in 2021, racing an Audi RS3 LMS TCR run by the Belgian Comtoyou Racing outfit.
Borković raced in TCR Eastern Europe in 2020, dominating the season at the wheel of a Hyundai i30 N TCR to win all eight races and easily claim the title.
The Serbian driver is no stranger to TCR Europe, having raced in the series in 2018 and 2019, also in a Hyundai, before he was banned from the championship after the Red Bull Ring round in 2019 for ‘inadmissible behaviour’.
That ban was specifically tied to the then current season, but Borković did not return in 2020 either.
For 2021, Borković opens a new chapter by switching to Audi machinery, marking the first time in his career that he has driven a car from the German manufacturer.
“The trust placed in me by Comtoyou Racing to run one of their Audi’s is a great honor for me,” said three-time TCR Europe race winner Borković. “I am returning to the big stage.
“I hope that everything will go better with the pandemic and that I will be able to travel to all 14 rounds of the championship, and compete for the top.
“My teammate will be the legendary Tom Coronel, which I’m especially excited about.”
The season gets underway at the Slovakiaring next month, a circuit where Borković was victorious in 2015 in the FIA European Touring Car Cup.
“I know most of the tracks, but I will definitely need some time in the first race or two to get used to the car since I haven’t driven Audi before.
“I know that I will be able to adapt quickly with a great team and a teammate.
“All in all, I hope for good health, normalization of life and sports competitions, and then great rides in the TCR Europe.”
