TOCA confirms full grid ahead of 2021 season

TOCA has announced that all 29 entries have been confirmed for the 2021 British Touring Car Championship season, including an expanded two-car Speedworks Toyota line-up.

29 entries – the maximum number of TOCA BTCC Licences (TBLs) held by teams – are confirmed for the forthcoming season.

Three TBLs are retained by TOCA to allow for extra entries at the discretion of the organisers. TOCA has again opted not to allocate any of its own TBLs to teams, in line with the policy of gradually reducing the size of the BTCC grid.

Amongst the notable entries is an expanded Speedworks Motorsport allocation of two TBLs, to support the Toyota outfit’s expansion to a two-car Corolla team in 2021.

“Although we are all going through this most incredibly gruelling period, it’s enormous testament to the strength and popularity of the BTCC that we have a full entry,” said BTCC Chief Executive Alan Gow.

“Even more remarkable is the fact that a third of the grid will be new-build cars that have been constructed in the off-season.

“All of which means that we have yet another fabulous, and even more unpredictable, season in store.”

The full entry list will be published by TOCA in March, after teams and drivers have confirmed their plans for the 2021 season.
