Mat’o Homola slams Dan Lloyd for race two incident

BRC Racing Team’s Mat’o Homola has criticised rival Dan Lloyd after the pair made contact in the opening stages of race two in Barcelona, claiming he ‘pushed him out of the track’.

Homola and Lloyd collided after the Brit dived up the inside of the Hyundai driver on the first lap at turn five and the Slovakian was forced off wide into the gravel.

Lloyd would later be punished for the move post-race and received a ten second time penalty that saw him drop to 16th, and crucially out of the points, in the revised race two classification.

“I believed, that he would leave me the place and we would turn side by side, as we both had enough space there,” explained a frustrated Homola, who ended the race a lap down in 20th place.

“He didn’t, and it looked to me, like he has done it on purpose and pushed me out of the track.

“The impact was so hard, that I almost hit the barrier behind the gravel trap. Luckily, I just ‘scratched it’.”

The Slovakian driver had started the weekend well in Saturday’s round seven – where he took fourth place after starting the race from pole position – but is now sixth in the Drivers Standings and 50 points behind new championship leader Mike Halder.

The next rounds of the TCR Europe season take place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps between October 22-24.
