Chris Smiley drawn onto reverse-grid pole for final Donington Park contest

Excelr8 Motorsport’s Chris Smiley will start the final British Touring Car Championship race at Donington Park from pole position as the top twelve positions will be reversed.

With Hyundai making its debut appearance as a manufacturer in the series this weekend, Smiley has enjoyed a positive start to life with the i30N.

While team-mate Senna Proctor suffered a mechanical failure in the opening contest of the 2020 season, Smiley battled his way to seventh position in a promising debut for the Excelr8-run machine.

In the second encounter, Smiley held on to 12th position, a result good enough to secure reverse-grid pole position as drawn by race two winner Colin Turkington.

It will be an all-new front row for race three, with Ollie Jackson’s new-for-2020 Ford Focus ST alongside Smiley, with Josh Cook, Stephen Jelley and Adam Morgan the top five starters.

The final race of the day at Donington Park is scheduled to go green at 17:25 BST.
