BTCC unveils 2021 calendar, including Thruxton double header

British Touring Car Championship organisers TOCA have unveiled a provisional calendar ahead of the 2021 season.

The schedule reverts to a more ‘traditional’ format, with Brands Hatch’s Indy and GP circuits book-ending the season, which runs from April to October.

Donington Park, Thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft all return to their 2019 slots in the opening half of the year, with Snetterton marking the end of the summer break in late July.

Thruxton will once again host a double header, as it did last season, with a second event in August after Knockhill, and before the title run-in at  Silverstone (National) and Brands GP.

Silverstone International is a notable exclusion, having featured on the 2020 schedule before dropping off after the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced a revision.

“Well, this is certainly a new first for the BTCC – issuing the following year’s calendar before the current season has even begun… but I’m sure everyone will agree that it’s nice to see some ‘normality’ returning to the schedule,” said BTCC Chief Executive, Alan Gow.

“Having said that, with our first 2020 event now less than two weeks away at Donington Park, there is phenomenal enthusiasm for getting this season underway amongst our teams, supporters and partners.”
