Iain McDougall joins Melbourne Performance Centre in Audi RS3

Iain McDougall will join the grid for the season finale of the TCR Australia series at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend, driving an Audi RS3 LMS for Melbourne Performance Centre.

McDougall’s late entry takes the grid size to 21 cars for the first time, meaning the inaugural year of the series will end with its biggest field of the season.

McDougall, 28, will be making his national circuit racing début in the Audi, racing the car previously campaigned by Leanne and Garth Tander in selected events.

The Melbourne-based driver previously competed in production cars and sports sedans, participating in the MINI Challenge for the past two years.

He took part in a test of the car two months’ ago at Winton Motor Raceway, and is evaluating a full programme in 2020.

“We had a really good day at the evaluation day and I can’t wait to get on track at The Bend,” said McDougall.

“I’ve spent the last few years racing the ex-MINI Challenge cars. They are front wheel drive and it has prepared me extremely well for the TCR Australia cars.

“I felt comfortable at the test, so it was good to have that under my belt before this weekend, but we just want to get a feel for it and demonstrate that we can be competitive.

“We would like to do a full season next year, but we’ll just get through this weekend and see how we fair.”
