Hungary and Slovakia retained on 2020 WTCR calendar

Both Hungary and Slovakia have been confirmed as remaining part of the FIA World Touring Car Cup calendar, with the countries getting April and May race dates respectively next season.

The Hungaroring has featured on the World Touring Car calendar since the 2011 season, whilst Slovakia joined the calendar in 2012, featuring for five consecutive years, before being omitted in 2017. The Slovakiaring then re-joined in 2018 and the partnership is set to continue into 2020.

Both events will see WTCR and the FIA European Truck Racing series share the bill, in a similar manner to the partnership which featured at the Slovakiaring last year.

No further details of the 2020 calendar have been revealed, with venues and dates set to be published after the FIA Touring Car Commission and the FIA World Motor Sport Council has ratified the calendar.

The Race of Hungary will take place on 24 – 26 April 2020, followed by the Race of Slovakia on 5 – 7 June 2020.

“While we’re keeping the full provisional 2020 calendar under wraps until it has gone through the necessary approval process, we’re really pleased to confirm the alliance between Eurosport Events and ETRA,” said Head of Eurosport Events, François Ribeiro.

“[The alliance] will help to deliver two great weekends of entertainment featuring two very popular categories at two great venues, each located within close proximity of a capital city.”
