Santiago Urrutia maintained Audi’s 100 percent record atop the time sheets in practice for this weekend’s TCR Europe double-header, the Uruguayan a blistering 0.4 seconds clear of the pack.
Following on from fellow Audi runner Gilles Magnus’ earlier benchmark, Team WRT racer Urrutia clocked a best time of 1:53.960s around the 2.89-mile circuit on his final run to eclipse points leader Josh Files (Target Competition).
Files’ runner-up spot led a much-improved showing from the Hyundai runners in FP2, with team mate Dominik Bauman third, a further 0.065s adrift.
Next came Nelson Panciatici and Julien Briche’s Peugeot 308 TCR to round out the top five, the former improving on his final flying lap of the 30-minute session.
Andreas Backman was another similarly late improver, this time to sixth fastest. Daniel Lloyd’s Brutal Fish Honda was seventh.
Mat’o Homola made it five Hyundais in the top ten ahead of Jimmy Clairet and FP1 pace-setter Gilles Magnus, the latter heading into the weekend as the TCR Benelux standings leader.
Jack Young was an impressive twelfth in the Renault Megane TCR, the UK Clio Cup title contender halving his own personal deficit to the benchmark time between practice sessions.
The weekend continues with qualifying tomorrow [21st September] at 11:14 CEST, with wet weather conditions forecast.
