Jason Plato receives post-race time penalty for contact, drops to 17th

Power Maxed Racing’s Jason Plato has received a post-race time penalty for two separate incidents in the third British Touring Car Championship contest at Snetterton.

Plato had been leading the third encounter and enjoyed a lengthy scrap with Team BMR’s Ash Sutton, the pair swapping positions before ultimately making contact on lap nine at Brundle and allowing Rory Butcher to capitalise and take the victory.

Plato would receive a 10-second time penalty for contact with Sutton – it is as yet unclear for which incident – and a five-second time penalty for contact with BTC Racing’s Chris Smiley.

The net 15 seconds added to his time means he slips down to 17th.

Meanwhile, polesitter and race one winner Tom Ingram received a 6.7-second time penalty to drop him behind Ollie Jackson, who he overtook under yellow flags.
