Dan Cammish ‘going all guns blazing’ in home BTCC round at Croft

Dan Cammish says he will ‘go all guns blazing’ for his home round of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft this weekend, with the Honda driver confident after a double podium last time out.

Cammish moved up to eighth in the drivers’ championship standings last time out at Thruxton in mid-May, securing a brace of third-place podium finishes to give his title charge a boost.

The Leeds-based racer last stood on the podium in 2016 at Croft, having taken a second when racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, which he is keen to repeat.

Last season, on his first BTCC outing at the circuit, Cammish had one of his more difficult weekends of the season, finishing 19th in race one before progressing to 11th in race two and finally breaking into the top ten with tenth in race three.

After his recent double podium, Cammish heads to Croft refreshed and keen to move further up the order.

“I was over the moon coming away from Thruxton with two podiums and a sixth,” said Cammish. “The Honda Civic Type R felt solid all weekend and has put me back in the title fight.

“Being from the North-East Croft is really classed as my home circuit, I’ve raced there many times. I got a podium there [in 2016 in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB] and the target is very much set on repeating that this year.

“During the break I’ve been on holiday and I have come back well rested and up for the fight. I’ll be going all guns blazing now to keep the points tally increasing and to close the gap to the leaders.”
