Maxime Potty pleased with first podium of 2019 after pressure from Briché

Maxime Potty was elated to take his first podium of the 2019 TCR Europe season at Hockenheim after defending race-long from Julien Briché’s Peugeot 308 TCR.

Potty made a strong start and, along with eventual second-place finisher Luca Engstler, was able to jump the Audi of Gilles Magnus into the sharp right-hander at Turn 1.

From there he was one in a thrilling four-car scrap for second, eventually taking the chequered flag third to open his silverware account for the new year, despite extended pressure from the Peugeot in his rear view mirror.

“At last, a good result and a nice race!” said Potty afterwards.

“It is just what I was waiting for. I had a good start, but then it was tough and closely-fought throughout the race.

“The car behaved very well and I made no mistakes, so I could keep the pace, be consistent and secure the podium, despite being constantly under pressure from Briché.”

The final race of the weekend from Baden-Wurttemberg gets underway at 10:35 BST tomorrow [26th May].
