Volkswagen cars get 10 kg weight break in WTCR

The four Volkswagen Golf GTi cars running in the FIA World Touring Car Cup, which are equipped with the TCR common ECU, have been given a 10 kg weight break with immediate effect.

The change to the Balance of Performance [BoP] comes after all four of the Sébastien Loeb Racing-run cars struggled in the opening event of the season in Morocco, with the cars continuing to show a lack of relative pace in first practice at the Hungaroring.

As well as the TCR common ECU Golfs, DSG cars, which don’t compete in WTCR anyway, have been made 20 kg heavier, with an increase of 10 mm in the ride height.

That makes the minimum running weight of the Audi RS3 LMS DSG 1,300 kg and the CUPRA and Volkswagen DSG cars 1,280 kg respectively.

Some small changes have also been made to the maximum boost pressure / engine revs tables.
