Reigning ADAC TCR Germany champion Harald Proczyk claimed pole position for the opening round of the series at Oschersleben, with the Hyundai driver beating Max Hesse to the top time.
HP Racing’s Proczyk had been just sixth in the first part of qualifying, but pulled out a lap in Q2 which smashed the lap record at Oschersleben by almost eight tenths of a second.
Hyundai Team Engstler’s Hesse was second, making it a Hyundai i30 N 1-2 at the top of the times, ahead of the Honda ADAC Sachsen duo of Mike Halder and Dominik Fugel in third and fourth respectively.

The second Engstler Hyundai of Theo Coicaud was fifth, ahead of the leading VW Team Oettinger Golf of Malaysian Mitchell Cheah in sixth, the last driver within a second of the pace.
Proczyk’s team-mate Lukas Niedertscheider was seventh and the slowest of the full-season Hyundai drivers, ahead of the leading Audi of LMS Racing’s Antti Buri in eighth.
The Honda of Michelle Halder and the Hyundai of guest driver Guido Naumann completed the top ten, giving the latter the reverse-grid pole position for the second race of the weekend.
IMC Motorsport’s Steve Kirsch scraped through to Q2 in his Opel, but the experienced German could only qualify in 11th, ahead of Brit Bradley Burns in the Pyro Motorsport Honda. Burns had earlier been an impressive second quickest in Q1 but failed to post a time in Q2.
None of the CUPRA drivers made it through to Q2, with TOPCAR Sport’s Julien Apothéloz being the best in 14th, whilst JC Reynold’s was the slowest of all in 18th, almost three seconds off the pace.
The first race of the season gets underway at 15:25 CEST (14:25 BST) and will be streamed live online at the ADAC TCR Germany YouTube channel.
