Audi’s Loïc Duval ended the second day of the official DTM test at the Eurospeedway Lausitz on top of the times, as the Ingolstadt marque once again locked out the top three positions for the second day in a row.
Frenchman Duval was over a tenth faster than Team Rosberg’s Mike Rockenfeller who was fastest on Monday, after completing 80 laps of the east German circuit, having posted his best time in the morning session.
Team Abt Sportsline’s Robin Frijns was third, just over half a second behind the pace-setting Team Phoenix driver.
The two brand new Aston Martin Vantage DTM cars continued to impress with their early pace, as Daniel Juncadella was fourth fastest, ahead of Brit Jake Dennis in fifth, with the quickest of the Swiss-built cars less than a second from the pace.
South Africa’s Sheldon van der Linde was the best of the BMW drivers in sixth, ahead of Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi in seventh, who is testing with the privately-run WRT team this week.
BMW’s Joel Eriksson completed just 14 laps, whilst Bruno Spengler only managed one tour in his BMW M4. Spengler had earlier been fourth fastest during Monday’s running.
Testing continues on Wednesday and Thursday at the Lausitzring.
